PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • I am currently at IBM Research - Brazil in Visual Analytics Group.
    • Working with a Data Science project and all its aspects since Data Acquisition, Cleaning process, Transformation, Feature Engineering, Visualization, etc.
    • Devising an implementation using a Machine Learning Techniques based to automate a process and create a decision support system.
    • As an important activity, we also have weekly meeting to understand de business workflow and process management to delivery the best model focused on the client’s interests.
  • I worked for seven months in Big Data Infrastructure Department at Itau Unibanco.
    • As an intern I had my first contact with Big Data’s world from the infrastructure perspective in a Hadoop cluster managing it and its components as Hive, Sqoop, etc. Also, I improved my skills using Linux operating systems as it was a major part in my daily activities giving support to Hadoop’s users in the bank.
    • My major contributions were as a developer programming a series of scripts in Python to automate processes inside the department. We were able to save a significant amount of time demanded to the team by automating some boring tasks as well as able to reduce time required to the end user to have access to Hadoop’s tools.
  • At Itau I also worked for eight months in Documents Management Department.
    • Activities consisted of participating in Kaizen Projects aiming continual improvement through mapping processes to identify gaps in the workflow done by the analysts. Also, I was responsible for performance metrics about the Quality of service in the whole department.

PROJECTS

CURRENT

  • I am working in a Research program in Convolutional Neural Networks to text classification: an application in disaster management using messages from social media. I am being advised by Professor Dr. Flavio Horita.

PAST

  • California State University, California, USA.
    • Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) based System to Control a Robotic Arm.
      • This project consisted of establishing a successful serial communication programmed in Python between the user and a robotic arm using NeuroSky Mindwave Headset, where the user is able to make the arm grab an object by only using the headset’s biosensors.
      • Work done in group with other students from Science without Borders during the summer of 2016.
  • Winner of the program Talentos em Ação, competition designed to interns inside Itau Unibanco.
    • Project was done in a group of five interns and an Itau’s Data Scientist. The topic was Analysing client’s interaction in social media - Product vs Brand.
    • Activities consisted of collecting information about the topic from different bank’s departments to create the best approach to solve the problem. Also, after the study, we collected, labeled and analysed data taken from twitter. Part of the codes and solution can be found here.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • I consider myself with a good understanding in Python. I have a solid foundation in the language and its basics data structures, data types,methods and native functions. I have done projects using a variety of standard libraries used in Machine Learning as Pandas, Numpy, Keras, ScikitLearn, etc. To view some of my works, please, see the repositores on github.
  • During my internship at Itau, I developed a good understand about Linux operating systems. I also have done a course: Red Hat System Administrator I.
  • I have good skills in programming logic. I have done courses and work in other languages as C, SQL, R and Java. I know the basics of theses language and I think I am able to work with them as well.
  • From a infrastructure perspective I have good understanding about the major Big Data’s tools in the industry as Hadoop. Knowing how they work, the pros and contras and its components (Hive, Sqoop, Impala, etc).
